🌊 The Experience

Join us in the crystal-clear waters of Vava’u, Tonga for an unforgettable opportunity to swim respectfully alongside humpback whales. From July to October, these gentle giants migrate to our warm tropical seas to give birth, nurse, and rest—and you can witness this incredible moment in nature from the water.

💵 Tour Details

• Price: $270 USD per person

• Maximum 8 guests per boat

• Only 4 swimmers in the water at a time, rotating every ~20 minutes

• Up to 90 minutes total swim time per guest (as per Tongan regulations)

• Mandatory 90-minute rest period between whale interactions

• Total tour time: approximately 7 hours

• Departure: 8:30 AM from Tonga Beach Resort

• Includes: light lunch, fruit, and drinking water

• Transfers available with advance notice

🧜 Swimming Requirements

• Minimum age: 14 years old

• Travel insurance is required

• Must be a confident swimmer in open water

• If you're new to snorkeling or unsure in the ocean, we highly recommend taking a swim/snorkel class before arriving in Vava’u

• Flotation devices provided

🚫 Important Whale Encounter Guidelines

• No duck diving or freediving near whales

• Maintain a respectful 10-meter distance

• No touching or physical interaction

• No flash photography

• Our experienced guides prioritize whale well-being and guest safety

🌤️ A Note About Nature

Whales are wild and free in their natural environment. While we do everything possible to create respectful and memorable encounters, sightings and swims cannot be guaranteed. That said, Vava’u is one of the best places in the world to experience this incredible event.
